Talk about a way to start your tournament. Gavin McNeil became the hero for Rosemount, burying a short-handed goal at 7:32 of overtime to give the Irish a 2-1 victory over Chanhassen. The game was a goaltending clinic—Drew Sherman stopped 28 of 29 shots (.966 save percentage) for Rosemount, while Tyler Jackson made 28 saves for Chanhassen. Avery Hanowski opened the scoring in the first period for Rosemount before Kalen Balliet tied it up in the second. But McNeil’s shorthanded OT winner? That’s the stuff of legends.

Kayden Martin didn’t have to work too hard in net, but he was perfect when called upon. The Lions’ 40-5 shot advantage tells you everything you need to know about this one. Seven goals in the second period? That’s just showing off.
Irondale 6, Mankato East 4
This one had some bite to it. Irondale’s Nico Cisneros scored twice and Jax Marshall added a goal and an assist as the Knights held off a scrappy Mankato East squad 6-4.
